FAQ

1. Who is eligible to submit?

Students currently in Grades 10–12 from any high school worldwide are eligible to submit, regardless of nationality or curriculum.

2. What kinds of work can I submit?

We accept academic essays (short: 1,500–3,000 words; long: 5,000–8,000 words), book or media reviews, thought pieces, and interdisciplinary explorations focused on the humanities and related fields.

3. Do submissions have to be in English?

Yes, at this time we only accept submissions written in English.

4. Can I submit a piece I’ve already published elsewhere?

No. All submissions must be original, unpublished work. Simultaneous submissions (submitting to multiple journals at the same time) are discouraged unless they are disclosed and approved in advance.

5. What happens after I submit?

Your submission will go through a peer review process. You may receive comments or revision suggestions before your work is accepted. Our editorial board makes final decisions.

6. Is there a fee to submit or publish?

Yes. There is a $50 submission fee and a $250 publication fee for accepted works. These fees support our operational costs, editorial team, and website maintenance.

7. Do you offer financial aid or fee waivers?

Yes. We are committed to access and inclusion. If the fees present a financial barrier, please contact us to request a fee waiver. All requests are kept confidential.

8. Will I retain the copyright to my work?

Authors must agree to a copyright assignment for publication purposes, but they retain moral authorship. We also allow republication with permission and proper citation.

9. Will my work be peer-reviewed?

Yes. All accepted submissions are reviewed by a team of trained high school editors and external mentors to ensure academic rigor and integrity.

10. How do I cite sources in my submission?

You may use either MLA or Chicago citation style, as long as you are consistent and thorough in your approach.

11. When can I expect to hear back after submitting?

We aim to respond to all submissions within 4–6 weeks after the deadline for each issue.

12. Can I submit more than one piece?

Yes, but each submission must be accompanied by its own application and fee.

13. How can I get involved beyond publishing?

We are always looking for volunteers, peer reviewers, and regional outreach coordinators. Visit our Recruit page or email us for more information.

14. Will my work appear in print or only online?

Our issues are primarily published online. Selected works may be featured in special print editions or anthologies.

15. Is this journal affiliated with a specific school or institution?

No. We are an independent, student-led, nonprofit initiative committed to open and diverse intellectual exploration.
